羅隱，字昭諫，
唐錢塘人也
（一曰餘杭人）。工詩，尤長於詠史。有湘南雜槁，性傲倪。少與桐廬章魯風齊名，為宰相鄭畋所重，畋女覽隱詩，諷詠不已，畋疑有慕才意。隱貌陋，一日，女窺見之，遂絕口不詠。
錢鏐辟為從事節度判官副使，嘗說鏐討朱溫，曰：「縱不成功，猶可退保杭越，奈何交臂事賊？為千古之羞乎？」卒於餘杭，年八十餘，有子蹇翁。
所著《江南甲乙集》等書。令狐綯子滈登第，隱賀以詩，綯謂滈曰：「吾不喜汝登第，喜汝得羅公詩耳。」據
