Punctuation options
腦死，一稱腦死亡，生物現象也。凡喪命以前，
心跳、
呼吸、
血壓莫不可以藥物儀器強使之復，獨腦死不然。如腦幹者，呼吸之中樞，一夕破毀，殆無良策。故腦死者，眞死也，今皆以腦死為人死之斷。而斷之之法，設限格三，必昏惘、斷氣、腦幹失能而後可。或有第四，曰腦電靜息。知有腦死，則於醫療之用大矣。一則嚴學理，腦死則命不復存；再則有利移植，腦死者器官最優，蓋心血未止，成活度大；三則可息醫者、家人之仔肩，腦死即眞死，不消過費以爭無用之功也。
然腦死與植物人殊。植物人，腦幹未死，特昏惘耳，傷在腦囊，其呼吸、心跳猶在，茍有醫濟，尚得復全。而腦死則不然，雖百施救，無以為也。
