臺西鄉者，居臺灣雲林縣之西，窮洲極畔，乃及此地。東去縣治可三十公里，西臨臺灣海峽，是故得名。

康熙橋：居蚊港通麥寮市區之道，拔土之時，
許文志值縣長，文志幼時，未有此橋，曩者，其祖熙每負之涉水以求學，文志名「康熙橋」以銘之，康熙乃其祖之號諧音。
