沿革
遠古史前，美洲鄉民即居此。
一八三五年，英人威廉·李察森，就舊金山半島西隅，首築私宅。
一八四六年，及美墨之戰，美水師准約翰·斯洛特帥部坐此城。

郡市合一之區也。同聖馬刁郡、聖荷西、矽谷、奧克蘭、柏克萊、馬林郡、納帕郡等，合曰舊金山灣區也。
