芙蓉者，名花耳。類有二：曰「水芙蓉」，曰「木芙蓉」。故所謂者多水芙蓉，有語云「芙蓉出水」。水芙蓉名甚蕃，曰「芙蕖」，曰「蓮」，曰「荷」，曰「藕花」云云。今人多稱「荷花」耳。
