十國也，國高氏，都江陵

唐設藩鎮於荊州江陵府，號荊南節度使。至後梁，高季昌任之。
後唐立，季昌更名季興，
莊宗冊為南平王
。傳子從晦，從晦又傳子保融，保融傳弟保勗，保勗傳保融子繼沖。
建隆四年繼沖降於宋，凡五主，五十七年。
