萬國博覽會，又稱世界博覽會、
國際博覽會，列邦之盛典也。肇於英吉利國，而後普傳寰宇。越數歲而一舉，集萬方之俊彥，聚四海之珍奇。
其所陳者，上則天文輿地，下則百工技藝，大至舟車宮室，微及日用器皿，靡不畢備。所以示國力之強弱，見民智之巧拙，亦以通有無而廣見聞。
會期既至，萬商雲集，遊人如織。蓋非獨騁一時之鉅觀，亦欲敦友邦之睦誼，啟格致之新知，臻天下於富強也。
