藏元付中間者，昔日本長州藩特有之職也。藏元，掌藩庫出納
。中間，即足輕，下級武士也。藏元付中間，乃附藏元之足輕，位卑而任重。
平時，掌文書、會計諸務。戰時，則衛軍需，或為下級軍吏。雖得佩刀，然位不及諸武士。
山縣有朋父即任是職，可見有朋出身非顯，而起微賤。此亦見有朋之奮發有為，能自卑微而登人臣極品，誠難能可貴也。
