西魏所滅。
齊文宣帝詔立淵明為梁帝，遂稱尊號。改承聖四年為天成元年。梁太尉陳霸先襲殺王僧辯，奉晉安王方智，是為敬帝。以淵明為太尉，奉表朝廷。詔徵淵明仍稱藩，將遣使送之入北齊。會疽發背死。諡閔。
