薛濤，字洪度，又字宏度，唐長安才女也。工詩文。
因父薛鄖仕於成都，亦往之。濤八九歲知音律，其父一日坐庭中，指井梧示之曰：「庭除一古桐，聳干入蕓中」，令濤續之，即應聲曰：「枝迎南北鳥，葉送往來風」。父楸然久之。濤未及笄，父亡，迫為樂妓

貞元年間，西川節度使韋皋甚憐之，招其至帥府赴宴賦詩。一日，皋授之「校書」一職，上未允之。然校書之名世人皆知也，後世亦以薛校書稱之。
濤遇元稹於梓州，稹憐之。然無果矣。

為生，孤獨而亡。
