元人也，笞失蠻氏，後徙居河間
。薩都剌本朱氏子，其父養為己出。弱冠，成泰定四年進士，授應奉翰林文字。擢御史於南台，以彈劾權貴，左遷鎮江隸事司達魯花赤。歷淮西廉訪司經歷。至正三年，擢江浙行省郎中。遷江南行台侍御史。明年，左遷淮西江北道經歷。詩才清麗，名冠一時，
虞集雅重之。晚年，寓居武林
。每風日晴好，則肩一杖，挂瓢笠，踏芒蹻，凡深岩邃壑，無不窮其幽勝，興至則發為詩歌。著有《雁門集》八卷，《西湖十景詞》一卷。後入方國珍幕府，卒。
