平安時人也。中納言長良第三子。母贈正一位大夫人乙春也。乙春之妹即光孝帝之母。是故基經幼時，與帝最親。仁和三年十一月二十一日。拜關白。二十六日，拜阿衡。遂起阿衡之事
。四年六月二日，復關白。寬平三年，年五十六，薨。在公卿之位二十七年，大臣之位二十年。謚曰昭宣。有子四人。
