蝦者，
亦作鰕水族也。棲於江川、海洋。長鬚善躍，披甲禦胄，頭戴槍矛。其鬚似丈人，故和人謂之海中耆老。格大者曰龍蝦；厥種有二，或生螯，或無之。其親類則蟹
也。
蝦之爲用也廣矣，常入庖廚，其肉至甘鮮，清人李漁謂之葷食之必需也。又有光色詭譎，霞彩火紋而類金魚者，則畜以賞玩焉。
