袁宏道，
隆慶二年臘月廿三日生，字中郎，無學，號石公，六休。
湖廣公安人氏。
萬曆二十年進士，歷任吳縣知縣、
禮部主事、
吏部驗封司主事、
稽勳郎中、
國子博士等職，為三袁之首。為明斥古文之主將，以為文與時當相對，非「文必秦漢，詩必盛唐」，言「獨抒性靈，不拘格套」。與其兄宗道、
中道並有才名，稱公安三袁，世稱「公安派」。
萬曆三十八年十月廿日卒。
