紹之長子也。
紹信後妻劉氏言，偏愛少子尚，以譚出繼兄後。出為青州刺史

審配矯紹遺命，奉尚嗣為冀州牧。譚攻尚，敗還南皮。尚復攻譚，譚請救於曹操
。操救之，尚乃還。後譚背操，操討之。譚軍潰，為追者所殺。
