慕容沖，小字鳳凰，
西燕之威帝也，
前燕景昭帝之子，
幽帝之弟。
前秦天王苻堅滅前燕，沖姊清河公主，年十四，有殊色，堅納之。沖年十二，亦有龍陽之姿。堅又幸之，姊弟專寵，宮人莫進。
王猛切諫，遂出沖為平陽太守。
淝水之戰後，沖起兵叛秦，兄濟北王泓為眾所殺。沖被擁立為皇太弟，承製行事，置百官。進據阿房宮，自稱皇帝，改元更始，在位一年，為左將軍韓延所殺，後子瑤
即位，諡為威皇帝。
