叔重，
漢汝南召陵人也。性淳篤，少博學經籍，
馬融嘗推敬之，時人稱之五經無雙許叔重
。為郡
功曹，舉孝廉，再遷除洨長。
安帝末年卒於家。初，慎以五經傳說臧否不同，於是撰為五經異義，又作說文解字十四篇，萬五百餘字，並正六書、理萬文，所著皆傳於世。

按《法書要錄》「慎少好古學，書正文字，尤善小篆，師模李斯，甚得其妙。」據
