元烈宗義皇帝，諱拔都，

肅宗長子也。國初，太祖以親王分封肅宗於西北，位列宗王之首。

成吉思四十三年，定宗受讒，欲殺帝。帝洞察先機，先發制人，廢定宗，立憲宗，申令於眾，眾悉應之，議遂定。同年，帝盡廢定宗之子為庶人，流至極寒，旋封太宗之孫、定宗之侄、合失之子海都嗣
窩闊臺汗國可汗。

成吉思四十六年，帝以清君側、除奸臣廢也速蒙哥，復立哈剌旭烈為
