遠古，為陸澤。傳舜

治水，詣此鯀築堤，不成。鯀死，其子禹自豫省孟津疏之，治水乃成。
商祖乙立，遷都於此。
及周，
周成王封
周公旦第四子爲邢侯，置邢國。
前六六二年，狄人犯邢。前六六一年夏，刑國遷夷儀。前六五九年，
齊桓公遷
刑至今山東聊城西南。前六三五年，
衛
滅刑，邢侯奔晉。
前三七二年，
趙成侯築檀臺，以朝諸侯，故名邢臺。
