世宗孫也。父允恭，母孝懿皇后徒單氏。大定八年秋七月丙戌誕於東宮。十八年，封金源郡王。二十五年十二月，封原王。判大興府事。二十六年四月，賜名璟。十一月，受冊爲皇太孫。二十九年春正月癸巳，世宗崩，太孫即皇帝位。
泰和五年十月，
韓侂冑北侵，七年夏五月丙申，宋遣使議和。十一月，宋人誅韓侂冑。八年春三月，與宋和。六月戊申致書於宋皇帝
。十一月丙辰，帝崩於福安殿。年四十一。在位二十年。金道中衰，漸自章宗。大安二年，葬道陵
