長孫操，字元節，
無忌從父弟。父覽，為周大司徒、薛國公。操有學術。初，
唐高祖辟署相國府金曹參軍。未幾，檢校虞州刺史。從秦王征討，常侍旁，與聞祕謀。徙陝州，城中無井，人勤于汲，操為釃河溜入城，百姓利安。以母喪解，長老守闕頌遺愛。服除，封樂壽縣男。為齊、揚、益三州刺史，課皆最，下詔褒揚。
永徽初，以陝州刺史卒，贈吏部尚書，謚曰安，葬給鼓吹，至虞罷。
