阿拉伯字（），亦名天方字、
回字者，初為阿拉伯語所書也，今則奉回教處多以之為文，若維吾爾文、
波斯文、
烏爾杜文然。攷其源流，則本納巴泰字而造。自右而左橫書。初無元音，然有以零聲母艾里夫（）、
半元音雅阿（）倂瓦烏（）示者，後遂為動符。有連書法，蓋一詞之間，字母多有聯匯貫通，其人美之。後世遂多書法、
書體焉。
