陳果夫者，名祖燾，以字行。滬軍都督其美從子，
浙江吳興人也。生於清
光緒十八年十月廿七日。

少有志節，入中國同盟會，頗與革命事宜
。
民國十三年，從蔣中正籌建黃埔軍校，赴上海採辦軍需。
十五年，授國民黨中央監察委員。初，
中共役員亦涉國民黨權柄，其勢日盛，以至於清黨之議漸起。果夫素惡共產主義，遂附中正厲行反共，時黨內肅清者甚眾。

十七年十月，國民政府立於南京，果夫以元勛授監察院副院長，兼領國民黨中央組織部如故。果夫與弟立夫柄官吏選任，黜陟進退悉由其處分，世人嘗號曰「蔣家天下陳家黨」也。
廿二年，以導淮委員會副委員長授江蘇省政府主席，督辦淮水入
海事務。

果夫有肺疾，及抗戰終，遂以沉疴難愈辭本兼各職。
卅七年，徙臺灣養疴。
四十年八月廿五日，果夫以痼疾歿於台北，年五十有八。
