杜預註曰「陳莊公、宣公皆厲公子」，《史記·陳杞世家》曰「桓公太子免之三弟，長曰躍，中曰林，少曰杵臼」，乃桓公之子也。
厲公七年（魯桓公十二年）薨，莊公即位。莊公二年（魯桓公十四年），
