陶寺，
龍山文化之遺址也。處臨汾之地，轄地甚少，不及二里頭，故曰邦國也。其國或曰堯
都，或曰禹
都，眾議紛紛，無人知其解也。
其遺址有朱書出土，有二字，或文堯
也，或文命也。亦有圭表，觀像台見於此，因羲和觀天象，受民時，亦有羲和之國論也。
是至中期，其王殘暴，故窮黎起兵，大破上族區，
石峁邦國見此，舉兵南下，趁虛而入，乃奪陶寺之權也。
（《古本竹書紀年》曰：「堯之末年，德衰，為舜所囚。」）陶寺末，斯二里頭朝立，不能敵，遂於眾文化沒也。
