隅田川，古曰墨田川、角田川，俗曰隅田川，為日本荒川一支流也。長貳拾叁點五公里，終注入東京灣

一六二九年，荒川改道而成主流。
一曰一六八三年，為下總國與
武藏國之界河；另曰明治末至昭和初，闢「荒川放水路」，以岩淵水門為始，作分流之。
一九六五年三月廿四日，日本定荒川放水路定為荒川主流，因俗而改，定名「隅田川」。
