雨冰，亦稱凍雨、
雨雪，言天本降雪，中盡化雨，遇物而冰
也。雨冰之成，非偶然也。時蒼穹三分，上者極寒，殆盡為雪；中者和暖，雪悉融焉；下者復寒，然雨不冰。
或曰，極寒而不冰，何故蓋因水之為冰，必有核晶，方能成事。夫核晶者，微物也，譬若塵埃。時中下二層，交在千米之空，鮮有微塵，是以水入下寒而不冰。迨近地焉，乃遇諸物，以為核晶，遂亟冰焉。此亦過冷之謂也。
雨冰之臨，景色淒美，而苦萬物。蓋車毀樹倒於冰之重，獸死鳥亡於冰之封也。
