顏良者，徐州琅邪臨沂人也，同文醜為
袁紹勇將而名，為曹操下屬孔融戒諫之。
建安五年，紹與操官渡會戰，
沮授諫曰：「良性促狹，雖驍勇不可獨任。」紹不聽，同文醜爲將率，簡精卒十萬，騎萬匹，將攻許。
荀攸說曹操曰：「今兵少不敵，分其勢乃可。公到延津，若將渡兵向其後者，紹必西應之，然後輕兵襲白馬，掩其不備，顏良可禽也。」，操從之，救劉延，操使張遼及
關羽為先鋒，羽前登，望見良麾蓋，策馬刺良萬觿之中，斬其首還，諸將莫能當，遂解白馬圍。
