肅宗至德二年進士。大曆八、九年，為永嘉度支鹽鐵轉運使府屬官。十年，與李泌、
柳渾交遊。貞元二年，為鎮海軍節度使韓滉判官。滉入朝，況為大理寺司直。三年，柳渾、李泌主政，況遷著作郎。五年，渾、泌相繼卒，況以傲毀朝班，貶饒州司戶參軍。經蘇州、
杭州、
睦州、
信州，與州刺史韋應物、
房孺復、
韋儹、
劉太真相唱和。十年，隱於茅山
。來往湖州、
揚州、

嘉興、
常熟之間。
憲宗時卒。有《華陽集》。子非熊有才名。
