忠肅王二年正月丁卯，忠惠王生。十五年二月，以世子如元，宿衛。十六年十月，忠肅王奏請傳位，十七年二月，忠惠王立。元年，太寧府院君崔有渰卒。二年，上王復位，即忠肅王後元年。八年，忠肅王薨，遺命忠惠王襲位。曹頔反，舉兵圍王宫，兵敗伏誅。忠惠王後元年，順天君蔡洪哲卒。元封本國女奇氏為第二皇后。二年，王聞權漢功貳室康氏有姿色，納之宫中。四年，罷習射塲屬東西大悲院。評理致仕尹宣佐卒。元以檻車流王於揭陽縣，無一人從行。五年春正月丙子，王未至配所，薨於岳陽縣。或云遇鴆，或云食橘而殂。國人聞之，莫有悲之者，小民至有欣躍。王在位前後六年，壽三十。子忠穆王立。八月庚申，葬永陵。
恭愍王六年閏九月癸亥，上尊諡曰獻孝大王。十六年正月丁亥，元賜諡曰忠惠。
