太武立，自將擊柔然，走之。並夏地，滅北燕馮弘，伐北涼，
沮渠牧犍降之。又降鄯善、通西域，侵劉宋，攻盱眙不克。帝聰明雄斷，清儉率素，臨敵常與士卒同甘苦。在位二十八年，為宦官宗愛所弒。謚號太武，廟號世祖。年號始光、神䴥、延和、太延、太平真君、正平。
