康熙七年，聖祖詔鰲拜入宮而執之。書鰲拜三十大罪。廷議當斬。聖祖念鰲拜三朝老臣，不忍加誅，革職拘禁，家産籍沒。翌年，卒於禁所。

世宗立，追封一等公，諡超武。
