鶯歌區，
新北市轄區也，其北山有巨石若鸚，古稱鷹哥石、
清代改為鶯歌石，因而得名；境內盛產窯土，陶業發達。
鶯歌，居新北市西端，東毗樹林，東南鄰三峽，西南臨大溪，西連桃園、
八德，北接龜山
。
光緒年間，為鶯歌石庄，
日據時代改稱鶯歌庄，後升格鶯歌街
；
民國三十五年改鶯歌鎮，同年樹林地區分治；
九十九年改制為鶯歌區至今。
