麗江市，處雲南之西北。
納西語曰「鞏本知」，「鞏本」者「倉廩」也，「知」謂「市」也。其境方二萬五百五十七平方千米，有衆一百二十二萬餘。
麗江古城在焉。麗江古城者，華僅存之無城古城也。因土司之氏木，筑城則勢必如「木」字加框而成「困」字之故，遂無城。公元一九九六年麗江地震，古城無損，于公元一九九七年入「世界文化遺產」之列。

；自治縣二，曰玉龍，曰寧蒗
