黃土高原，亦稱烏金高原，東西二千餘里，南北千五百里，在太行山以西，
青海日月山以東，
秦嶺以北，
長城左近，海拔高八百至三千米。屬旱大陸性季風氣候區，合陝北隴東地台、華力西褶帶、太平洋式燕山褶帶、隴西地塊、條地塊、呂梁山地塊、汾渭下沉帶諸地貌。以秦地軸、鄂爾多斯地台為南北二大經。
