景公之幼子也。
景公嬖鬻姒之子荼，疾，使國夏、髙張立荼，置羣公子於萊。景公五十八年（魯哀公五年）秋九月，景公薨，公子嘉、駒、黔奔衛，陽生及鉏奔魯。翌年（魯哀公六年）夏六月，
陳乞、鮑牧及諸大夫以甲入公宮，及國夏、髙張戰於莊。國夏奔莒，髙張、晏圉、弦施奔魯。秋八月，陳乞使召陽生，冬十月立之。使胡姬以安孺子荼如賴，去鬻姒。陽生即位為悼公，使朱毛遷晏孺子於駘，不至，殺諸野幕之下，葬諸殳冒淳。
