龜兔賽跑，出自伊索寓言，編號二百二十六。
故事曰：
兔
與龜
爭走，約以山
為界。兔自恃其輕，不以龜為意，遂先發而進。龜雖遲，不息其志，徐徐而行。兔至中途，見龜尚遠，乃欲休息，臥於路旁。不覺睡著，不知日暮
。龜漸近，見兔安臥，不敢驚動，悄悄而過。及至山下，兔方醒，急起而追。不及，龜已至界。兔愧而退，龜得勝而歸。
此故事喻人事貴有恒。蓋兔輕視龜，故失之。龜雖緩，而有恆。速不足以勝，恆者乃真。
